Tome of the Lorekeeper

A ready-to-run Obsidian vault for managing D&D 5e campaigns (2024 rules by default), built to be maintained by you and an AI assistant working side by side.

Most TTRPG vaults give you templates. This one also gives your AI the operating manual, task procedures, and worked examples it needs to use those templates correctly, so "process my session notes" or "make me an NPC" lands properly formatted in the right folder with valid frontmatter.

What's inside

• A complete note system: 15 templates for campaigns, PCs, NPCs, locations, factions, quests, sessions, encounters, items, lore, deities, handouts, statblocks, and timeline events. Strict frontmatter schemas power every dashboard automatically.
• An AI operating manual (CLAUDE.md, mirrored for Gemini) plus 14 task skills in _AI/skills/: session prep, session logging, NPC creation, encounter building, vault audits, image generation, and more. Point any file-access AI at the vault and it knows the rules.
• The Example Campaign: a small original village-and-barrow arc with one worked example of every note type. Living documentation for humans, few-shot examples for AI.
• An SRD compendium seed: 18 classic statblocks, items, spells, a conditions reference, 2024 rules notes, and rollable tables, organized by provenance (SRD / Imported / Homebrew) so the licensing line stays clean.
• 31 insertable snippets (z_Templates/Markdown/): callouts, statblocks, encounter blocks, rollable tables, Leaflet maps, timeline keys, Dataview queries.
• Table-play tooling: initiative tracking, dice rolling, a player-facing second-monitor workflow with structurally spoiler-safe handouts, and the Forgotten Realms Calendar of Harptos wired into timelines.

Quick start

1. Clone or download this repository.
2. Open the folder as a vault in Obsidian (File → Open Vault → Open folder as vault).
3. Enable community plugins when prompted (they ship preconfigured in .obsidian/).
4. Read Getting Started.md. It is a ten-minute tour.
5. Optional: point Claude, Gemini, or another file-access AI at the vault folder. It will read CLAUDE.md and behave.

Using it with AI

The _AI/ folder is the handshake. Drop raw session notes into _AI/inbox/ and ask your assistant to process the session: it writes the log, updates quests and the kanban board, advances timelines and faction clocks, then files your notes. Every task procedure lives in _AI/skills/ and ends with a worked example from the Example Campaign.

• Bundled community plugins and the ITS theme belong to their authors under their own licenses.
• Content you import into Compendium/Imported/ is your own and must not be redistributed.
