A plug-and-play second brain for business owners. Obsidian vault wired for Claude Code - Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance in one place. Free.

Second Brain Starter

A plug-and-play second brain for business owners, built as an Obsidian vault and wired to work with Claude Code.

One place that pulls your whole business together - Sales, Marketing & Content, Operations & Fulfilment, and Finance & Strategy - so nothing lives in your head or scattered across fifteen tabs.

This is the exact structure I use to run a six-figure business with a tiny team. It is free, MIT licensed, and yours to edit.

What's inside

00 - Home.md <- your dashboard / map of content
00 Inbox/ <- capture everything here first
01 Sales/ <- leads, calls, follow-ups, deals
02 Marketing & Content/ <- ideas, scripts, posts, performance
03 Operations & Fulfilment/ <- delivery, SOPs, projects
04 Finance & Strategy/ <- numbers, decisions, planning, hiring
Templates/ <- daily note, capture, meeting templates
_Claude Code/ <- how to let Claude Code fill the brain for you

Each department has a MOC (Map of Content) - a single note that links to everything in that area, so you always have one front door per part of the business.

Setup (about 5 minutes)

  1. Get Obsidian (free): https://obsidian.md
  2. Download this vault
    git clone https://github.com/rahulj1601/second-brain-starter.git

  3. In Obsidian, choose Open folder as vault and select the second-brain-starter folder.
  4. Open 00 - Home.md. That is your dashboard.
  5. Enable two core community plugins (Settings -> Community plugins): Dataview and Templater. The dashboard queries use Dataview.

That's it. Start by dropping anything and everything into 00 Inbox/, then file it into a department when you have a minute.

The three layers

  1. Capture - everything lands in 00 Inbox/ first. Notes, calls, ideas, numbers.
  2. Organise - it gets filed into one of the four departments and linked from that department's MOC.
  3. Surface - your daily note pulls today's priorities from every department, and MOCs keep related notes connected.

Wire it to Claude Code (optional but powerful)

See _Claude Code/Wire It To Claude Code.md. With a short CLAUDE.md pointed at this vault, Claude Code can read your inbox, tag and file each note into the right department, and write your daily brief for you - so the brain fills itself.
