Obsidian Starter Vault

A ready-to-use Obsidian vault template: folder structure, note templates, and a curated set of community plugins — with no personal data.

Install

1. Download this repo as a ZIP (or git clone it).
2. Unzip into a new, empty folder.
3. In Obsidian: Open another vault → Open folder as vault → pick that folder.
4. When prompted, Trust author and enable plugins (the plugins are pre-listed but need to be enabled on first open).

What's included

• Folder structure: cards/, MOCs/, people/, daily/, scratch/
• Templates: in assets/templates/ (used with the Templater plugin)
• Community plugins (code only — settings reset to defaults): Dataview, Tasks, Templater, Excalidraw, Spaced Repetition, Charts, Desmos, Mermaid Tools, Image Converter, Style Settings, Pretty Properties, Heatmap Tracker, and more.
• Theme & snippets from the original vault.

What's intentionally excluded

• All note content (this is a blank starter, not someone's notes)
• Every plugin data.json (may contain personal data) — reconfigure to taste
• Any publishing/sync/AI plugins that auto-upload content
• Machine-specific state (open panes, graph layout)

First-run setup

Some plugins need a quick reconfigure since settings were stripped:

• Templater → set Template folder location to assets/templates, and add folder templates if you want notes auto-created per folder.
• Daily notes / other plugins → adjust folders/paths as you like.
